Figure painting guides
There are many techniques we see master painters use on forums and discussion boards, but one thing they have all done is master the basics. I was looking at some of my figures the other day and I thought it would be a good idea to reread some of the basic literature on painting with acrylics, before I rush off to the bookshelf I checked out a couple of very useful online guides to figure painting:
Vallejo online guide : Figure Painting with Model Color in the Model Color Section ,
Vallejo also provide a very useful colour equivalencies chart for their Model Color range with other manufactures and colour charts of the range , the links are just above the article.
Andrea Miniatures recently made available there own guide online on figure painting by Julio Cabos simply register your e-mail address and you will receive a PDF version of the guide.

The secret's in the detail
Over on Planet Armor I have been following the build of a Sd. Kfz. 184 Elefant for quite a while now, the level of detail is mouth wateringly good , enjoy !
Future Inspiration
On occasion while wondering through the various modelling forums online one stumbles on to a work of real mastery. The following multi media painting tutorial of a scratch built Warhammer Space Marine posted on the CoolMini Or Not Forum is a truly wonderful and to be marvelled at :

Mark Bannerman
For many years now the work of Mark Bannerman has been a great inspiration to me. His technique in painting faces was instrumental in me developing my skills as a figure painter, however I still need to learn when to stop. Since I tend to over paint the faces. Here are a list of links to his articles on painting 1/35th faces in oil colours orginally published on the Missing Lynx website.
